We are a lifestyle company based in Dublin. Last year, we launched our flagship product, ****, a herbal dietary supplement, originally concocted as an anti-hangover drink. Our product has been manufactured in a HACCP-certified facility and has been registered with the FSAI. Earlier this year, we implemented a product ambassadorship programme, collaborating with 50 social media influencers around Ireland using a coupon-marketing strategy. Moreover, we were also progressing discussions with local and international distributors, to enhance accessibility to our product. However, since Covid-19 struck Ireland, we have become dormant. With restrictions imposed by the government, many of our distribution partners suggested that we wait till the situation ameliorates. However, life with Covid-19 has become the norm now. As a small business, we are exploring various avenues to function profitably. One of the solutions is to sell the business to an organization better positioned to market our product. We firmly believe that our start up can successfully establish itself in UK & Ireland. Once the operations are set up, the company can expand into other EU countries. We have generated interest fin US, China and India for potential distributorship deals and were involved in positive discussions pre-Covid.
Currently in Ireland, we have don’t have a competitor as per our research, given that **** is the first of its kind herbal anti-hangover dietary supplement. However, internationally, there is a similar product called ‘Morning Recovery’, with minimum visibility in the market currently. One of the bigger advantage is that we will be operational on ground in Ireland (to start) and UK, significantly shorter lead times will help penetrate the market more. This will give us a competitive advantage.
1. Covid 19: In early 2020, we were getting significant traction across Ireland. However, after Covid-19 struck, our business struggled restrictions imposed by the government, hampering our ability to conduct offline events, marketing campaigns and sampling activities. We therefore lost our momentum and are struggling to recover.
2. Lack of distributor partnerships: Online retail is not sufficient to facilitate rapid sales. We haven't been able to partner with large distributors in Ireland to place our product in stores and supermarkets. While we were negotiating with 2 potential partners in early 2020, the deal fell through after Covid-19 lockdowns.
3. All co-founders are working professionals, so we are unable to devote 100% attention to implement an efficient recovery plan, given today's unprecedented circumstances.
